В пятницу 16 декабря, накануне дня Ракетных войск стратегического назначения (РВСН), командующий войсками генерал-лейтенант Сергей Каракаев на встрече с журналистами РИА Новости в главном штабе РВСН в подмосковной Власихе сделал ряд заявлений. В частности, генерал заявил, что, во-первых, группировка РВСН России к 2021 г. будет практически на 100% состоять из новых ракетных комплексов, и, во вторых, что новые российские межконтинентальные баллистические ракеты (МБР) типа "Ярс", "Тополь-М" и "Булава" неуязвимы для американской противоракетной обороны.

 

Говоря о составе перспективной группировки, С. Каракаев сказал: «Доля новых ракетных комплексов в группировке РВСН будет постоянно возрастать. Планируется, что если к 2016 г. новые ракетные комплексы составят около 60%, то к 2021 г. в составе ударной группировки РВСН будет 98% новых ракетных комплексов".

 

В дальнейшем в РВСН на рубеже 2010-2020-х гг. будут постепенно выводиться из боевого состава ракетные комплексы четвертого поколения с ракетами РС-18 "Стилет", РС-20В "Сатана" и РС-12М "Тополь".
