Первый пистолет фирмы Беретта с полимерной рамкой. Компактный и достаточно мощный. Построен по схеме с коротким ходом ствола и запиранием по Браунинговскому принципу - снижением ствола. Версия F имеет наружный двусторонний предохранитель, который также служит для снятия курка с боевого взвода, версия D внешних предохраниетелей не имеет. Все пистолеты серии 9000 имеют внутренний предохранитель, блокирующий ударник до полного выжимания спусковго крючка и индикатор наличия патрона в патроннике.
