Пулемет Ameli был разработан испанской компанией CETME (сейчас - Empresa Nacional SANTA BARBARA) в 1982 году. Состоит на вооружении в Вооруженных силах Испании и ряде других стран.
Будучи внешне похожим на уменьшенную копию немецкого пулемета MG-3, Ameli в техническом плане похож на штурмовую винтовку CETME mod. L или немецкий пулемет Хеклер-Кох НК-23. Автоматика Ameli построена на основе полусвободного затвора с замедлением отката при помощи роликов. Питание ленточное, из присоединяемых пластиковых коробов на 100 или 200 патронов, лента рассыпная. Ствол пулемета воздушного охлаждения, быстросменный. Для выбора темпа стрельбы могут использоваться сменные затворы - более легкий для высокого темпа стрельбы (1200 выстр/мин) и более тяжелый затвор - для меньшего темпа (850-900 выстр/мин). Пулемет имеет складную сошку, а также может использоваться с техники или со станка-треноги.
