США отказались предоставить юридические гарантии ненаправленности объектов противоракетной обороны в Европе против российских ядерных сил, но несмотря на это Россия пытается вывести переговоры по ПРО из тупика - в Москве обсуждают новую инициативу по ПРО.
Окончательно новые предложения не формализованы, сейчас инициатива известна под названием "Стратегическая оборона Земли" - по аналогии со знаменитой военной программой США времен президента Рональда Рейгана "Стратегическая оборонная инициатива" (СОИ). Идея действительно отчасти напоминает американский проект "звездных войн".
Она предусматривает создание совместной с США и НАТО системы, которая бы защитила планету не только от ракет, но и от астероидов и других угроз из космоса. Автором идеи, по данным СМИ, является спецпредставитель президента РФ по вопросам ПРО Дмитрий Рогозин.
