В 2012 году российская армия начнет государственные испытания автомата системы Калашникова пятого поколения, сообщил член президиума общественного совета при Министерстве обороны РФ Игорь Коротченко.
Как ранее сообщало "Оружие России", руководством ОАО "Ижмаш" перед Конструкторско-оружейным центром поставлена задача до конца 2011 года инициативно разработать опытные образцы продукции под новые требования Минобороны России в соответствии с лучшими мировыми образцами.
На встрече с журналистами генеральный директор ОАО "НПО "Ижмаш" Максим Кузюк заявил, что в ближайшее время "Ижмаш" представит модернизированный автомат Калашникова 200-ой серии.
По его словам, еще одним направлением развития производства стрелкового оружия на заводе станет работа над проектом "Абакан" на базе автомата Никонова. По результатам испытаний определится какая модель в итоге будет запущена в производство.
