Как известно, новый облик Вооруженных Сил России немыслим без разработки современных систем вооружения и военной техники (ВиВТ). Поэтому снабжение ими Российской армии для руководства государства стало одной из приоритетных задач, и решить ее необходимо в кратчайшие сроки. Для ее реализации Минобороны заявляет и о возможности закупок ВиВТ и экипировки у иностранных партнеров.
По этому вопросу активизировались и СМИ, постоянно публикуются репортажи о новых разработках ВиВТ, берутся интерьвью с руководством Военно-промышленного комплекса (ВПК) и МО РФ, проводятся «круглые столы» на животрепещущие темы. В этих мероприятиях часто принимает участие и начальник вооружения ВС РФ - заместитель министра обороны РФ Владимир Поповкин. Он рассказывает об имеющихся проблемах в «оборонке» и пытается обосновать позицию МО РФ в области закупки вооружений и формированию нового облика ВС РФ.
