Россия и Запад продолжают предпринимать попытки найти компромисс по проблеме ЕвроПРО. Одним из самых острых в отношениях Москвы и Вашингтона стоит вопрос предоставления юридических гарантий России, что запланированные к размещению в странах Европы элементы системы ПРО не направлены против страны. США и НАТО такие гарантии предоставить отказываются, ограничиваясь заверениями, что РФ нечего бояться.
Так на прошедшей неделе, замгоссекретаря США по вопросам разоружения и контроля над вооружениями Эллен Таушер, выступая в американском Атлантическом совете, заявила, что Соединенные Штаты готовы письменно подтвердить Москве ненаправленность элементов ЕвроПРО против России, но не на основе закрепленных законом обязательств.
