Россия является серьезным конкурентом Китая в поставке вооружений и ядерных технологий Мьянме, сообщает vpk.name.
В 2009 году Китай потерпел поражение в попытке продать Мьянме истребители J-10 и FC-1. Мьянма предпочла российские истребители МиГ-29, решив заключить контракт на поставку 20 боевых самолетов этого типа на сумму 570 млн долл США. Поставки намечены на 2012 год. Россия с 2006 года имеет представительство РСК МиГ в этой стране. Как сообщается, Россия помогла модернизировать основные базы ВВС этой страны. Мьянма купила ударные вертолеты Ми-35 в количестве 10 машин на сумму 71 млн долл. Ранее, в 2001 году, Мьянма заключила контракт на поставку 12 одноместных и двух двухместных истребителей МиГ-29 на сумму 130 млн долл.
Кроме того, Россия поставила Мьянме артиллерийские системы крупного калибра, комплексы ПВО, танки, радары, системы связи.
