США развернули активную борьбу с дефицитом бюджета. Предлагается урезать расходы на 1,2-1,5 трлн долл. в ближайшие десять лет. Примерно половина этой суммы придется на бюджет министерства обороны США. Это обстоятельство заставило Пентагон запаниковать - министр обороны США направил двум влиятельным сенаторам письмо, в котором он пояснил, что "драконовское" снижение расходов приведет к закрытию ряда крупных программ, что негативно скажется на национальной безопасности и, в конечном итоге, лишит страну статуса сверхдержавы.
Борьбу с дефицитом бюджета сенаторы конгресса США будут двумя проверенными методами:
- сокращением расходов федерального бюджета
- осуществлением бюджетного лавирования
