Прибыв вчера с рабочим визитом во Владикавказ, Президент России Дмитрий Медведев в штабе 58-й общевойсковой армии провёл встречу с офицерами Южного военного округа. Д. Медведев уже дважды бывал здесь ранее. Ведь именно подразделения 58-й армии принимали непосредственное участие в операции по принуждению Грузии к миру в августе 2008 г.
Спустя несколько дней после завершения боевых действий глава государства приехал сюда, чтобы поблагодарить военнослужащих. Затем, год спустя, он прибыл сюда вновь для того, чтобы вручить государственные награды солдатам и офицерам, отличившимся во время тех трагических событий.
В состав 58-й армии, кстати, входит и 4-я военная база, которая дислоцируется в трёх военных городках на территории Северной Осетии и Южной Осетии, причём её штаб находится в Цхинвале. В июле 2009 г. Дмитрий Медведев побывал там, когда совершал визит в Южную Осетию.
