В ходе реализации Государственной программы вооружений на 2011–2020 гг. и выполнения Государственного оборонного заказа 2011 г. для обеспечения соединений и воинских частей Воздушно-десантных войск (ВДВ) в текущем году поступило более 37 тыс. единиц различных видов вооружения и военной техники (ВВТ). Из них более 36 тыс. единиц ракетно-артиллерийского вооружения, более 650 единиц бронетанкового вооружения и техники, более 350 единиц автомобильной техники, более 20 единиц средств инженерного вооружения, более 70 единиц техники связи, более 50 единиц специальной техники, сообщило управление пресс-службы и информации МО РФ.
Плановое поступление бронетанковой техники позволило полностью перевооружить современными боевыми машинами десанта десантно-штурмовой полк и два парашютно-десантных батальона соединений ВДВ, дислоцированных в Южном и Западном военных округах соответственно. Воздушно-десантное соединение полностью оснащено новейшими автомобилями КамАЗ семейства «Мустанг».
