Среди исторических событий, над которыми время не властно, особое место принадлежит Московской битве, в рамках которой состоялось контрнаступление под Москвой. В суровые дни осени 1941 г., когда со всей остротой встал вопрос о самом существовании нашей державы, ответ на него зависел от того, устоит или нет Москва под натиском германского вермахта.
Его моторизованные и армейские корпуса, еще не знавшие ни одного поражения во Второй мировой войне, сметавшие все преграды на своем пути, прорвали стратегический фронт и, окружив значительные силы трех советских фронтов под Вязьмой и Брянском, устремились к Москве. В такой драматической обстановке, казалось, случится самое худшее и непоправимое. В ту пору не только враги, но и друзья нашей страны не сомневались, что судьба Москвы предрешена, а ее паденье — дело нескольких ближайших дней.
