На территории российской 4-й гвардейской военной базы в Цхинвале 16 декабря прошла торжественная церемония вручения Боевого Георгиевского знамени и грамоты президента России к нему.
Мероприятие состоялось в соответствии с указом президента РФ «О Боевом знамени воинской части» и приказом министра обороны РФ «О вручении Боевых Знамен соединениям Южного военного округа». На церемонию были приглашены представители руководства Южной Осетии во главе с временно исполняющим обязанности президента Вадимом Бровцевым.
Ритуал вручения Боевого знамени проходил в два этапа. Накануне состоялось церемония крепления полотнища знамени к древку.
