Используется для транспортировки личного состава и легких артиллерийских систем, ведения огневой поддержки спешенных стрелков.
Машина не имеет крыши над десантным отделением. К переднему броневому листу с левой стороны приварена командирская башенка, оборудованная тремя смотровыми приборами. БТР-50П оборудован двумя съемными аппарелями и лебедкой с тяговым усилием 1,5 т. На БТР-50П могут перевозиться грузы массой до 2 т. На базе БТР-50П создан БТР-50ПА. На погон крыши командирской башенки смонтирована турельная установка для установки 14,5-мм крупнокалиберного пулемета КПВТ. Обеспечена возможность ведения огня по наземным и воздушным целям: по горизонту – 360 град., угол возвышения +85 град., угол снижения – 3 град.30мин.
БТР-50ПК, имеющий закрытый бронированный корпус. На крыше корпуса имеется четыре люка. Бронетранспортер оборудован ночными приборами ТВН-2Б и системой ПАЗ.

Appointment
The BTR-50P tracked armored personnel carrier (APC) is designed to carry infantrymen and light artillery systems, as well as to support the infantry by fire on the battlefield when they dismount and fight on foot.. The vehicle's hull is open on top over the troop compartment. The commander's cupola fitted with three viewers is welded to the front armor plate on the port side. The BTR-50P APC is equipped with removable ramps and a winch producing a line pull of 1.5 t. The vehicle can carry up to two tons of cargo.
